curasan announces US distribution of Cerasorb™VET

Distribution partnership finalised with New Generation Devices (NGD)

Kleinostheim, Germany, June 16, 2003 - Prime Standard listed curasan AG (WKN: 549 453), which specialises in regenerative medicine, has finalised a contract with the US firm New Generation Devices, Franklin Lakes, NJ/USA for distribution of Cerasorb™VET in the veterinary market.

Cerasorb™VET is a synthetic, resorbable bone regeneration material used for the treatment of bone defects. It is identical to Cerasorb®, already utilised for the successful treatment of over 100,000 human patients. One of its outstanding properties, apart from its excellent biotolerance, is that the complete breakdown of the material is synchronised with the formation of new bone, enabling the body's own bone regeneration to proceed unimpeded.

Established in 2001, the private company New Generation Devices based in Franklin Lakes/New Jersey has specialised in the veterinary orthopaedic market. It has very rapidly become an established market player, known for innovative and problem-solving veterinary products.

In finalising the deal with NGD, curasan has now concluded its third US distribution partnership in rapid succession, thus targeting the world's most important market for healthcare. Other distribution partnerships, e.g. for dental surgery, are expected to follow this year.

"Cerasorb® is a prime example of advances in orthopedic surgery," said Hans Dieter Rössler, CEO of curasan AG. "By entering the veterinary market, we are opening up new potential for curasan and underlining our competence in regenerative medicine."
