curasan: launch of the anti-cancer drug Mitem® on the German market

Hoyer-Madaus holds exclusive distribution rights

Kleinostheim/Monheim, 17 February 2004 - curasan AG (WKN: 549 453) has awarded exclusive distribution rights for Mitem® (Mitomycin) to urology specialists Hoyer-Madaus GmbH & Co KG for a minimum period of eight years.

Eighty-five percent of Mitem®'s area of application lies in the field of uro-oncology, in the so-called prescription market for the treatment (prevention of relapse) of superficial bladder carcinoma. The market for Mitomycin in Germany is currently worth around 10 million euros and is controlled by one company.

curasan AG's Mitem® will be rolled out in strengths of 5mg, 10mg and 20mg. Supported by its strong market position, Hoyer-Madaus is confident of achieving a substantial market share in double figures with Mitem®.

Preparations for sales activities commenced during the last year, making it possible for Hoyer-Madaus to begin introducing the product to the market this month. curasan AG is to receive a down payment as soon as the product has been launched.

curasan AG holds worldwide sales rights for the new-style solution bag used for the instillation set. Interest in this product has already been expressed for markets in South America.
