Curasan AG: US-Subsidiary on the road to Success
curasan Inc., Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA, wholly owned subsidiary of curasan AG, Kleinostheim, is ahead of its business development schedule and is near a break-even point as 2007 closes.
In spite of the difficult US dental bone grafting market where human bone bank products dominate use, the curasan company has made excellent progress nearing doubling sales over last year of its synthetic material, Cerasorb®. ”The growing support of important US opinion leaders has been a significant factor in the success for our company”, comments the CEO of curasan AG, Hans Dieter Rössler. ”With this support we were able to perform clinical case studies, some of which have been already completed with very good results. These are now being spread among the dental community with the effect that the number of regular users is increasing.”
To leverage this, further activities with Opinion Leaders and potential users have been initiated.
On December 6, 2007, international experts ICOI president Dr. Ady Palti and Dr. Robert Miller presented a workshop at NYU called “Modern Augmentation Techniques” focusing on case studies of sinus elevations, bone splitting and the latest 3D imaging techniques. They also provided clinical data about the newest site development techniques designed to improve implant placement in the challenging maxillary posterior region. The full-day workshop in New York City, which included hands-on models, preceded the 20th Annual NYU ICOI Implant Symposium, December 7-8.
On January 15, 2008, Dr. Robert Horowitz will present bone-grafting data on various materials at the evening study session of the New Jersey Society of Periodontists in Woodbridge, New Jersey. Dr. Horowitz, a practicing periodontist in Scarsdale, New York, and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Implant Department at NYU, is a respected researcher in bone regeneration. Further events with Dr. Horowitz will follow.
At the ICOI Winter Symposium in Las Vegas, a pre-symposium course on February 7, 2008 called “Advanced Maxillary Augmentation Techniques for Immediate Implant Site Development” will be led by Dr. Palti and Dr. Avi Schetritt of Miami, with emphasis on sinus augmentation and esthetic soft tissue results using Cerasorb® M DENTAL.
Cerasorb® M DENTAL is used by periodontists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons and specially trained general dentists for ridge augmentation, filling of extraction sites/bony defects and repair of periodontal defects. Distributed in more than forty countries, Cerasorb is marketed in the United States by Curasan Inc., a North Carolina-based subsidiary of Curasan AG, headquartered in Germany.
