CERASORB® block forms - cubes, cuboids, wedges and cylinders
Cerasorb® block forms with their defined macropores offer the ideal environment for effective bone formation. Regularly aligned tubular pores with diameters from 1000 to 1400 μm permit both an uninhibited vascularization and the formation of mature bone structures with load-bearing capacity. The tubular pores of Cerasorb® are consistent with the main growth direction of the host bone so that biofunctional bone growth is promoted.
As a result of a rapid bone formation in the implant region, physiological load bearing is achieved early on. The established order of the pores provides the mechanical strength required for surgical handling even with a high total porosity of up to 65%. Cerasorb® block forms are certified for the filling of bony defects in the entire skeletal system. The main areas of application are traumatology, orthopedics and sports medicine. Experimental results demonstrate that the bond formed between the implant material and the new bone has a higher mechanical compressive strength than is found in healthy bone. Histology also demonstrates that the growth of bone into the material starts out in the macropores and then penetrates the entire implant through the interconnective micropore system (Koepp et al., 2004).
Cerasorb® block forms are available in cubes, cuboids, wedges, and cylinders. Cerasorb® block forms can be easily cut to size with a Teflon blade. Block material is processed by a precise automated machine which is fully computer controlled. Custom forms can also be manufactured upon request, for example solid vertebral cage fillers.
