Cerasorb®

Cerasorb® is a pure phase β synthetic-TCP resorbable bone regeneration material. Since Cerasorb® is fully synthetic, it has no risks of infections, immune reactions, or allergy as could occur with biological material. Cerasorb® is fully resorbed and replaced by the body's own new bone after about six to twelve months. Cerasorb® is certified for use throughout the entire skeletal system.

The interconnecting micro-, meso-, and macro-pore structure of Cerasorb® permits rapid penetration by osteoblasts and enhancement of vascularization. The uniform, large particle size prevents premature disintegration into micro particles which can elicit macrophage activity. Cerasorb® can be mixed with blood, PRP, bone marrow aspirate, or autologous bone to provide enhanced healing of the defect. Cerasorb® M is available in a variety of grain sizes. Cerasorb® block forms are also available to suit individual applications.

Calcium rich Cerasorb® leads to enhanced regeneration and calcification of the new bone even with osteoporosis, smoking, and advanced age as inherent risk factors. When mixed with blood, autologous bone or bone marrow, the patient’s own cells provide bone growth stimulation in a natural way, and avoid the potential complications that have been seen with artificially introduced growth factors.  Many in vitro tests have demonstrated that Cerasorb® is an excellent matrix for osteoblasts, stem cells, and bone morphogenic proteins.

The curasan proprietary manufacturing process allows the production of highly regular stable material with a pre-defined porosity and granule size. Cerasorb® is produced under clean-room conditions in a validated, computer-controlled, high-temperature sintering process according to the most stringent quality assurance requirements. The production process of Cerasorb® guarantees a mineralogical phase purity of more than 99% β-tricalcium phosphate. For this reason Cerasorb® is the worldwide standard for β-tricalcium phosphate.
