stypro® is a sterile, highly porous sponge that is implantable and resorbable. The biomaterial, which was originally developed to stanch bleeding and is used for this purpose in highly diverse areas of surgery, is moreover characterized by high processing strength. More recent applications also show advantages in tissue engineering and hence in wound healing of soft tissue defects.

The stypro® sponges made of porcine gelatin are capable of initiating hemostasis (clotting). Depending on the type of application, stypro® is available in different shapes and sizes:
